At the Opening Party of the 25th Edinburgh International Book Festival, Literary Agent Jenny Brown, shows off her surprise “Freedom of the Edinburgh International Book Festival” Award to Allan Little of the BBC. The inscription reads: “In Honour of 25 years of Dedication to Mud-Girt Tents and Unstinting Niceness”.

The Edinburgh International Book Festival kicked off yesterday, starting its 25th year. I was delighted to meet up with Bill Paterson, a great actor, and also, of course, an author. As you can see, it was another glorious Scottish summer evening. The rain was not horizontal.
